Trying a Nail Salon in Japan
Share
Whenever I travel to a new place, there’s one thing I always like to do —
I find a local nail salon and try it for myself.
It’s a small ritual of mine.
Not just for beauty, but for inspiration.
In Japan, I came across this quiet little spot on a calm street. Nothing flashy, nothing loud — just clean buildings, soft greenery, and a kind of stillness that instantly made me slow down.
Before even going in, I already felt it.
That subtle, almost unspoken aesthetic that Japan does so well.
Inside, everything was just as I imagined — minimal, thoughtful, and incredibly calm. No unnecessary decoration, no rush. Just quiet focus and careful work. It didn’t feel like a typical salon visit, more like a moment to pause.
After the session, I picked up a simple hand care pack. Even the packaging was beautifully designed — understated, but intentional. It’s these small details that always stay with me.
I think that’s why I keep doing this wherever I go.
Every city has its own way of expressing beauty.
And every nail salon tells a slightly different story.
Over time, these little experiences become part of how I see design —
more natural, more personal, and more connected to everyday moments.
And in a way, they quietly shape what I create.
